For my 10th BeebBirthday, I wanted to re-live my earliest Beebing days by assembling as closely as possible my original setup from the 1990s. I couldn't use any of the original items: I'd given the Beeb away to a family member when I got my first Master in 1992, the Fidelity monitor died in 2011, and I've no idea what happened to the Viglen drive and utility disc.

Luckily, I do have a Viglen floppy drive which is very similar, if not identical, to my 1990s one, and I uncovered the Viglen Utilities Disc in 2011. A substitute TV set wasn't going to be a problem, so that just left the BBC micro itself.

My friend Retroclinic has everything you might ever need, and I bought a US Model B from him in February 2013. This section is all about my 2013 US Beeb, starting from the moment it arrived.

The first few picture sets show how I eventually was able to replicate the start-up message I used to get on my 1990s Beeb, then a bit of a spring clean. After that, some more detail on my new US Beeb. Then an extensive look at using the American version of the Operating System, which would have originally been fitted to US Beebs.
