This rather elusive guide actually turned up in a fairly obvious place after I had spent about 20 hours of online searching over the summer of 2010! I needed it to discover the special control codes to switch the laserdisc player between SCSI control mode and RS232 serial control mode. This information isn't in the BBC Master AIV user guide or in the VP415 service manual, but it was mentioned in the service manual as being in this manual!

I had pretty much given up any hope of ever finding an online copy of this manual when quite by chance, I discovered in September 2010 a directory on my computer containing 20 TAR achives of Domesday-related scanned material, including the VP415 Operating Instructions!

I don't really know when I got all this stuff, but it must have been in 2006 and 2007, and there's no evidence that I had ever explored the archive files before. That's probably because before switching to Ubuntu in November 2008, I wouldn't have known what TAR files are or how to open them! So that's yet another reason, if any were needed, for me to be thankful that I ditched W*****s and went onto a proper operating system instead!
