BeebMaster - the Domesday Project

BeebMaster's
Domesday
Machine

This is the BBC Master 128 we are going to turn into the "Master AIV". It still has its Econet module in position from the time it used to be Station 1 on my network.

To fit the SCSI adapter, we need to check that the motherboard has the right connector at PL12. This is along the left-hand side of the board, just to the left of the two keyboard ribbon cables.

Here we can see a white socket. This is the correct connector. Some Masters have a set of pins here instead of a socket and they are not suitable for use with the Domesday System. Others do not have a connector at all and these too are unsuitable.

This machine has a soldered-together type of battery pack which fits to the left of the keyboard. This is particularly useful as it means there is no battery unit living between the power supply and the motherboard which would get in the way of the SCSI interface.
