If you're using the Teletext Adapter for the first time, it might not be tuned in. There are four tuning dials at the back and the tuning screen shown here can be used to tune in the adapter.
First, select the required channel (more of that in a mo) and pressing SHIFT-F0 will bring up the tuning screen. Turn the dial till you get 100% showing on the signal strength bar meaning that the channel is fully tuned in.
As it's manual tuning, you need to remember that each of the dials can be tuned into any channel so make sure you put BBC1 on the first dial, BBC2 on the second, ITV on the third and CH4 on the fourth. There was no Channel 5 back in the 1980s, and Channel 4 was fairly new - there had been less than 20,000,000 episodes of Countdown back then!
