Of course, no data has actually been written, because Laservision Disc Drives don't have a write head. The LV-ROM player is specially programmed to pretend that a write operation has succeeded, although no data is transferred to the disc, to allow the VP415 to be used in systems which time-stamp a file every time it is read.
