There is no Real-Time Clock in the Master Compact, the CMOS RAM and clock chip is replaced with an Electronically Eraseable Programmable Read Only Memory, or EEPROM, to hold the status settings.

Instead, a dummy time of the final second of the twentieth century is returned and cannot be changed.
