The version of ADFS in MOS 5.00 is 2.00, as opposed to 1.50 which is found in MOS 3.20.

Three new star commands are added: *FORMAT, *VERIFY and *DRIVE. At long last the format and verify utilities have found their way into the ROM, although why they decided on *FORMAT when every other utility ROM and disc calls it *FORM is another Acorn mystery! *DRIVE is added as an alternative to *MOUNT, supposedly for compatibility with software originally written with DFS in mind.

I'm not sure what the other changes in ADFS are, but something must have been removed to be able to fit the format and verify routines in the ROM. As the Compact doesn't have a 1MHz bus, I'm guessing that it's the Winchester host code which has been deleted.
