BeebMaster - Econet Station 128

Station 128
BBC Model B

This picture shows the ROMs inside Station 128. *ROMS is not available on the BBC Model B so I have had to make do with *HELP. The result is, however, less than complete.

Station 128 is fitted with OS 1.20, the latest version of the BBC Model B operating system. In fact, I have never seen any earlier version in a BBC B.

DFS and NFS are provided in a DNFS ROM. Previously I had separate disc and net ROMs but it made sense to go over to DNFS to save a ROM slot. DNFS also contains the Tube code so it is essential for use with my Acorn 6502 Second Processor.

Not shown by *HELP are BASIC II, the 1982 version which has a number of extensions to the 1981 version, most notably OSCLI (how did anyone work without OSCLI??!!) and ADFS 1.30. This is the latest version of ADFS for the BBC Model B. It does not show up because Station 128 has the older 8271 disc interface. I keep ADFS in there for when I connect my Technomatic Winchester drive to Station 128. When the Winchester is running, ADFS is perfectly happy to forget that I have the wrong floppy disc controller because hard drives have their own controllers.
