I have spent a long time (mostly unwittingly) building up a collection of Beebs with different motherboard issues so I could compare Econet interfaces. Here I present what I believe is the most comprehensive survey of BBC micro Econet interfaces available anywhere.
The Model B Econet interface consists of about 20 resistors, 2 capacitors, a resistor network pack, a bank of links for setting the station number, a 5-pin DIN socket to connect to the network and around nine ICs including the rare 68B54 and a NFS or DNFS ROM.
The BBC Model B interface introduced two features absent from the earlier System and Atom cards, namely the 5-pin DIN socket and the facility to set the Econet station number with link jumpers.
The Econet circuitry was modified over time with each new issue of the BBC motherboard. I can't say much about issue 1 because there are not any still in service as far as I am aware but I hope you will click on the picture links above to learn more about the Econet interface in issue 2, 3, 4 and 7 Beebs.
