The first inkling the assembled crowd get that it's 1pm is a huge explosion, but it's all right, it's the first of a forty-one gun salute from Green Park. Remember those guns on parade, well, they're giving the salute now!

Sure enough, the windows open and Her Most Gracious Majesty The Queen leads The Royal Family onto the balcony.
