This is the new main fuse fitted under the meter. All the wiring from the original fuse had, ahem, fused together, and short circuited, causing the burning. Fan ovens and tumble driers got the blame for this, not any Beebs, with 60 amps not being up to the job of powering this kind of apparatus.
Somehow I still doubt that the new 100 amp fuse will last as long as the 52 years' service the original one clocked up.
