Using the
Acorn
Electron
The Electron doesn't have an on/off switch like a Beeb, you just plug in the power adapter and the Elk starts up. Following a familiar VDU-7 bleep, the start-up message is displayed on screen.
In fact, the Electron is one of the few Acorn machines to display its actual name at switch-on, the others being the BBC Model A & B and the Atom. The B+, Master Series and Archimedes and other 32-bit machines all display the operating system they are running rather than the specific machine.
Although a little difficult to tell in the picture here, the Electron starts up in Mode 6. There is no teletext circuitry built into the Electron so mode 7 is not available.
