By the early 1990s, Acorn was no longer manufacturing its own Econet equipment, except for the Econet interfaces. The responsibility had fallen to SJ Research, with Acorn's approval, and so the Econet Starter Kit by this time had SJ Research socket boxes and clock and equally, the Econet Bridge available was the SJ Research version.

In this picture, the Bridge has a sort of orangy look to it but in reality the front panel is white with grey bordering.

Like the MDFS, the SJ Research Bridge has a keyswitch on the front to prevent any unauthorised tampering. In Run Mode, the front buttons do not work. The Bridge has to be in Admin mode before you can change anything.

An eight-character LCD panel displays information about the Bridge. When you first switch on it scrolls "SJ Research Econet Bridge version 3.04"

The three buttons are used to change the Bridge configuration in Admin mode. "Menu" scrolls through the various menu options and the other two buttons increase or decrease the settings.
