All the MDFS boxes have white lids with black bases. The top is smooth metal painted brilliant white, although some earlier boxes had a much grainier texture and were off-white.
The file server box has ventilation slots in either side which are not present on the expansion boxes.
Solidly built, these things are heavy!
On the front is an impressive array of indicator lights and the keyswitch.
