The next step is to add any additional directory allocations. When the Level 1 file server is running, user files will be stored in the directory allocated to the particular station number, regardless of who the operator is.

Cataloguing the file server from a user station provides a list of the files in the station's own directory and a list of files in the library (&) directory. It is not possible to change directories in Level 1 Econet as there is no hierarchical structure.
