BeebMaster - I Want an Econet! - Level 1 Illustrated Guide

Level 1
Illustrated
Guide

The Level 1 Econet file server is rather primitive when compared to later versions, although it was designed at a time when a BBC Model B would be acting as a file server to Acorn Atom or System network stations. Level 1 is written in BASIC and will run on a standard BBC B with disc interface.

It used Acorn DFS for file storage and the file server software and user files are stored on the same disc, as can be seen here.

In the root directory is the file server programme as well as disc formatting and verification utilities. Directory & is the library directory and contains Econet utilities which can be accessed by user stations, such as Notify and View. The remaining directories are allocated for user files according to the network station.
