50th Anniversary Viewing

Videotapes have different lengths, and the tape length is given in minutes prefixed with an "E". This is an E100 which is a 100-minute tape, just enough to fit on the 90-minute "omnibus" version of "Revenge of the Cybermen".

Blank tapes of this length weren't normally available to the videotaping public, the most common ones were E180 and E240. Our earliest set of tapes from about 1984 were E120 which were the biggest you could get at the time. I think there may have been E60 tapes before that but I've never seen a blank one.

Videotapes have a write-protect tab which can be broken off to prevent them being recorded over. Most commercial releases were made with the tab absent, but this early BBC video release has had the original tab broken off.
