I'm treating this item with kid gloves, so this is the closest we're going to get. I'm not sure it's even been out of the polythene before!

If you compare this to my 2003 remote, you'll see some very minor but nonetheless fascinating printing differences. Here, single outline arrows replace the double outline arrows on the other one, and dots above the CLEAR buttons replace the single outline arrows of the 2003 handset. The keypad numbers are also printed on the casing here as well as the buttons.

Anyone know which design was earlier?

It's not altogether apparent from this picture, but the dots look like they might be tiny little LEDs. However, I've not tried using this remote control, and I won't be doing unless the other one breaks down, so it will have to remain a BeebMystery!
