Rescuing the
Domesday
Data




The picture above shows the setup I assembled to start the process of copying the VFS data from the Domesday Discs.

At the bottom is my Domesday Machine, including the laserdisc player, together with my A5000 and the external SCSI hard disc I added to it specially for this purpose.

Both machines are connected to the same monitor so it is a question of unplugging one or the other as necessary to see what is happening.

The idea here was that I would use a modified version of Acorn's Logcopy running on the Domesday Master to copy the files on the Domesday Discs onto the A5000 running as a Level 4 file server.

You will have noticed that the Domesday Machine in this picture still has the Master 512 mouse attached as I began the rescue process before I upgraded my Domesday Machine to the 20th anniversary version.
