I have removed the keyboard so that we can see the motherboard properly.

The Compact is very similar to the Master 128 so we can see all the usual things in there like the 6502, 6522, 1770 and so on. On the right hand side are the sideways ROM sockets. There are no cartridge slots on the Compact but to partially compensate, we have four sideways ROM sockets instead of three.

The serial interface on the Compact is an optional upgrade so there are two empty ROM sockets towards the middle left of the board for the 7002 and the Acorn serial processor.
