This is a rather special Atom as it has the rare Colour Board, allowing it to displaying graphics in, well, colour, as you might have guessed.

Also it has an Atom version of the popular GoMMC storage device. I mentioned memory card storage systems a bit earlier, and the GoMMC device is a module which plugs into a ROM slot inside your Beeb and stores a set of disc (or tape) images which can be selected from a search facility and then "mounted" as the current disc as if they were on an external physical drive.

The red line you can see cutting down the screen is in fact a scratch on the Cub monitor's tube and not a fault in the Atom. The Atom is running a really super little space invaders game, which is written in about 2k of BASIC and is surprising smooth with really fast game play, putting some BBC games written in BASIC to shame in terms of speed!

Not bad at all for a machine running a 1 MHz. Yes, that's right: MEGA hertz.
