This is the Econet interface in the US Beeb. It is in the top-left corner, as with the UK model, but the ICs are arranged slightly differently. The DIN socket, as with all of them on the American BBC, is not a right-angle socket soldered to the motherboard, but instead is mounted on the rear shielding and soldered to the board via insulated wires.
