The BBC Master 128 was introduced in 1986 as a successor to
the popular BBC Model and Model B+ containing as standard many of the features
provided as upgrades to the earlier models.
The BBC Master 128 used an enhanced version of the 6502 processor, a new
version of Acorn's operating system and BBC BASIC. BBC Masters were fitted with the 1770 series disc interface. The operating system ROM contained the
equivalent of eight separate sideways ROMs, with Terminal, Edit, View,
Viewsheet, Acorn ADFS, Acorn DFS and BASIC all part of the package.
The Master 128 was the standard machine in Acorn's Master Series
range which included the Master 512, Master Turbo, Master Compact and Master
Econet Terminal.
