That's the format done. Now we have to set the large file allocation unit. I am not totally sure about this, so don't quote me, but I think it's the minimum counting unit for files, so if for instance you had a file taking up 800 bytes, with a "L.F.A.U." of 512, it would take up 1024 bytes on the disc.
I've heard stories about this system becoming a problem with some hard discs with a lot of space being wasted, and I think I was resolved in one of the later releases of RISC-OS.
