Well, it didn't help. There were still problems so I have opted for Acorn's trusty old SCSI disc formatter. This is almost exactly the same as the HForm utility for ST506 discs that used to be on the Apps disc.

Except it's having a problem reading the drive shape of the Miniscribe.
