If I had to sum up the whole history of Acorn in a single word then it would have to be "expandability". From the earliest 8-bit machines to the last 32-bit Acorns, each and every one was jam-packed with expansion socket after expansion socket.

Here we see a row of expansion ports: composite video, RGB, serial, headphones, parallel and Econet. But it doesn't end there! The two blanking plates above conceal the very ingenious expansion system of the Archimedes range, the podule slots. And four of them at that!
